With the attendance at max, I assumed that there was going to be something different or special for this festival given a whole year of inactivity.                What’s up guys, hope you are all having a fantastic week. This weekend I saw Pop Smoke’s second post-humous album come out and I’ve heard mixed reviews on it. I’m currently listening to it and the more I listen, the more frustrated I become. The concept of a post-humous album is to pretty much release unreleased music from an artist who has died suddenly. Before, I feel like this was an honest attempt to have a certain artist who meant a lot to fans exit the music industry with a bang through an album dedicated to those who were a part of the journey. An example of this for me would probably be Mac Miller who had family and friends creating a final project to give to those who supported him so much. To me, the album “Circles” was a touching attempt at recreating a Mac album with effort and love. This week I’m going to be talking about an album that’s been out for a while, but I haven’t had a chance to delve into this particular artist. The artist is Interpol and the album will be their debut album “Turn on the Bright Lights” that came out in 2002. The reason I wanted to listen to them was due to my newfound love for the Strokes. Today’s album was a recommendation from a friend I met at a party my sister hosted at my house. While she was gaining massive popularity points, I met someone who was giving me advice on what project I should listen to if I wanted to get into the metal genre of rock. Upon asking, he advised me to listen to Metallica’s third album “Master of Puppets”. Tyler, the Creator is an artist that has shown immense diversity in not only the types of music he creates but also the themes he explores in his albums. He’s not shy of creating a weird narrative nor being a weird artist through his clever yet sometimes harsh lyrics in his music.   What’s up guys! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I sure did, decided to drive up a couple hours to visit some friends and it was a great experience. I did however, want talk about something I noticed shortly before I left for my trip which was the release of music by the rapper Logic after saying he retired… for the second time. For those that don’t know, Logic has been one of my favorite rappers of all time, but recently his quality of music and his show of character in recent events have made me a little agitated as a fan. I was a huge fan of his music, and when he first announced retiring after the “Everybody” album, I was devastated. I remember high school me looking up all the forums and discussion that went over this retirement and whether or not it was true. Happy June my dudes, I hope all is going well. This week we had a good amount of drops and releases which honestly felt amazing. There were projects dropping from the Maroon 5, Marshmallow, Polo G, producer Pierre Bourne, and finally the spotlight of this week, the Migos with their studio album “Culture III”. When it comes to Migos, their contribution to the trap subgenre of rap entering pop culture is very significant. Their sophomore album, “Culture” broke records and pretty much made trap enter the beginning stages of pop music. Their triple-styled rhymes covered with adlibs and confidence is something that was easy to grab on to and move with. Their big song at the time of release around 2017 was “Bad and Boujee”, and man was it stuck on the billboards for quite a while.
