My Thoughts on "Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody"

What’s up guys, I hope you’re all ready to go back to the past for a bit cause we’re going over some pieces of media that circulate around the late 80s singer Whitney Houston. Now, I don’t know if you guys know this because there wasn’t much marketing around for this movie, but a biopic that goes over the life of Whitney came out this past month. But being the nerd I am, I decided to take a step further before going into theatres to check out this movie. I decided to watch a documentary that went over her life because I wanted to see how accurate this biopic was to the true story of Whitney Houston. That being said, I know documentaries aren’t the most accurate at times, but hey at least it gave me something. But then I decided to take it one step further than that and watch the notable movie that she was known for acting in… The Bodyguard. Now, this write-up will be something that just goes over my experience with watching the movies and just give my overall thoughts on the si...

Interview with Harry Katz and the Pistachios

What’s up raDEO fans, today I get to share with you all another interview with our third artist for the blog. Before we get started, I want to give thanks again to Harry Katz for sitting down and talking with me as well as Vince from 4AM Indie Publicity for making this all happen. With that all being said, let’s just get into it! Finding Your Voice Getting ready to interview Harry Katz, there were a lot of different factors to take into consideration before hopping on the phone with him. This was my first interview with an artist that was part of the band, and this wasn’t just any band. Harry Katz and the Pistachios is a 10-man band that is composed of brass instrumentalists, piano players, and a whole bunch of amazing singers. Not only that, I had the opportunity to interview Harry after the band dropped their debut project, “Scared of Romance”. This gave me a lot more material to look over and use to create questions that would allow me to get...

How Metro Boomin's "HEROES & VILLAINS" Does Things Different

Happy December everyone! Today’s post is going to be about Metro Boomin’s new album “HEROES & VILLAINS” Before we get started, I feel like it’s necessary to touch upon the significance of Metro Boomin’s work in today’s modern rap culture. This producer has single-handedly changed the way we’ve envisioned rap and its many subgenres such as trap music. Having his mark be seen in 2011 and on, this man has produced amazing songs that transformed the discography of star artists we see today such as Post Malone, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Migos, etc. If you know about rap today, there’s a time when you’ve heard his classic taglines that send shivers down your spine when it appears at the beginning of an anticipated song. But this project shows that he’s not just a producer that’s known only for his magic with production. With “HEROES & VILLAINS”, we see a visionary that’s able to grab some of the industry’s greatest artists and compose a project...

Interview with Edgar Everyone

Hey guys, today I got a treat for all you raDEO fans. This past week I had an amazing opportunity to talk to another great artist that’s rising and pick his thoughts on his journey in the world of music. Before I get started, I would like to again give a huge thanks to both Edgar Everyone for sitting down and talking to me and the agency 4 AM Indie Publicity for connecting the both of us to make this happen. With all that being said, let’s just get into it. The Origins of Edgar Everyone             I’m not going to lie, I was super nervous when it came to meeting Edgar Everyone. Even prepping for this interview made me feel a little worse because by listening to his music before preparing, I was also noticing how crisp his music was. There was a familiar yet unique sound that shone through each song I listened to, and while listening to his fourth track “Suddenly You Move”, I got the curiosity to ask to see where all this came from....

Kid Cudi's "Entergalactic"

The Intro Hey guys, so it’s been a good while since I’ve written anything on here. I’ve been so busy with life and school, and to be honest, I’ve just waited to find something that’s made me want to hit the keyboard and talk about something. However, I decided to break my hiatus and watch Kid Cudi’s “Entergalactic” movie that was released on Netflix, but I decided to give the album a listen as well. Before I go into my thoughts on both projects, I think it’s first important to talk about Kid Cudi and where I see him right now in his journey. As I’m sure you guys know, Kid Cudi has always been seen as one of the great influential artists of today’s hip hop generation. Starting with his mixtape “A Kid Named Cudi”, Scott Mescudi broke barriers by using hip-hop to talk about his vulnerabilities as a man chasing his dreams and finding his place in life. I personally didn’t get into him until my undergraduate years in Santa Barbara where my roommate would always find the perfect song...

Post Malone's Twelve Carat Toothache

What’s up guys, I got into Post Malone recently and I saw that his new album “Twelve Carat Toothache” came out and I figured I’d give it a quick listen so leggo.                 The intro track, “Reputation” is a really nice and solemn song that talks about Post reflecting on his life and figuring out what his life choices were and what were moments in his life that were meant to be. The second track “Cooped Up” was a nice song that kind of showcases the hip-hop side of Post Malone, and it’s this duo of singing styles from these two songs that we see repeated in the project. That isn’t a bad thing because the two sides that I see from Post each have their pros and cons and create a lot of good songs that are notable from his previous projects. “Lemon Tree” has some nice synthesizers and a nice beat that does take a good amount of time to get there, b...

Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers Pt. 2

We’re back at it again with part two of going over Kendrick Lamar’s album “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers” and before we get into the second half of the project, I quickly wanted to share my thoughts about my interpretation of the album cover and name. From what I’ve said about the first half of the project, I can clearly tell that Kendrick is reforming himself from the ground up by addressing his traumas in the past and his current views on life. This has allowed him to correct his present self from making the same mistakes in the past through therapy and opening up about the vices he’s used to escape what kept him up at night. That all being said, I do think Kendrick Lamar is ‘Mr. Morale’, a man who’s allowed himself to be used as a guide just like he found in Eckhardt. He’s not perfect by any means, but he’s not afraid to talk about what really bothers him. This includes the status of society in our post-pandemic world, t...
