Tyler, the Creator's "CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST"

Good evening ladies and gents! Hope the past week went well! I apologize for the late blog post; I was busy with family coming over and having personal things to take care of, but we are finally here with a delicious project to break down tonight. Tyler, the Creator is an artist that has shown immense diversity in not only the types of music he creates but also the themes he explores in his albums. He’s not shy of creating a weird narrative nor being a weird artist through his clever yet sometimes harsh lyrics in his music. I definitely got into him after my first trip to Camp Flog Gnaw in 2018 as I didn’t know any references to his music. My friend that I went with encouraged me to listen to his projects, and I gotta say to this day that the first impression “Goblin” had on me was intense. Direct lyrics with super aggressive beats to explore the insanity in his concept album was somethin...

My Thoughts on Flexing Retirement

What’s up guys! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I sure did, decided to drive up a couple hours to visit some friends and it was a great experience. I did however, want talk about something I noticed shortly before I left for my trip which was the release of music by the rapper Logic after saying he retired… for the second time. For those that don’t know, Logic has been one of my favorite rappers of all time, but recently his quality of music and his show of character in recent events have made me a little agitated as a fan. I was a huge fan of his music, and when he first announced retiring after the “Everybody” album, I was devastated. I remember high school me looking up all the forums and discussion that went over this retirement and whether or not it was true. I remember feeling so down to where I relistened to all of his projects thus far knowing it was going to be over. Then, he said he wasn’t actually retiring, and it was completely a joke. I was so frustrated because i...

Migos' "Culture III"

Happy June my dudes, I hope all is going well. This week we had a good amount of drops and releases which honestly felt amazing. There were projects dropping from the Maroon 5, Marshmallow, Polo G, producer Pierre Bourne, and finally the spotlight of this week, the Migos with their studio album “Culture III”. When it comes to Migos, their contribution to the trap subgenre of rap entering pop culture is very significant. Their sophomore album, “Culture” broke records and pretty much made trap enter the beginning stages of pop music. Their triple-styled rhymes covered with adlibs and confidence is something that was easy to grab on to and move with. Their big song at the time of release around 2017 was “Bad and Boujee”, and man was it stuck on the billboards for quite a while. You know you made an impression when Donald Glover brings you up at the Grammys. The future of Migos seemed exceptionally bright, but unfortunately time stunted their ability to grow. Their next album after a year ...

The Strokes Pt. 3: The Fruits of Abnormality

Heyoooo, it’s your boy Deo back at it again. And what am I back with? Oh yeah, you already know… I’m coming in with the third and final part to The Strokes artist review where I pretty much listen to the whole discography of the artist and give my thoughts. For this final part, we’ll be going over the projects “Comedown Machine”, “Future Present Past – EP”, and “The New Abnormal”. Without further ado, lets just get into it.                 The first project I’ll talk about is “Comedown Machine”. Right away with the first song “Tap Out” you can hear the 80s influenced instrumental that was definitely more prominent in the last project “Angles”. We’re given a much calmer song with distortion to the lyrics from Casablancas, creating some new and some old at the same time. I enjoyed the groovyness and tameness of this song, think...
