Mac Miller Pt. 3 : The Conclusion

What’s up guys! Finally, we are at the conclusion of the trilogy of me listening to Mac Miller and giving my takes. For this part, we’ll be covering the albums, “GO:OD AM”, “The Divine Feminine”, “Swimming”, and “Circles”. Let’s get right into it.                 The first album I listened to after “Faces” was “GO:OD AM”. To recap on what I thought of Mac’s work before this, it was pretty dark. The topics of drug dependency, identity, and the harsh lifestyle that comes with success were pretty common in Mac’s work up to this point. While it did create a lot of interesting songs, there was a point in “Faces” where I saw a dark side of Mac that worried me. A lot of artists go through up and downs, and that mixtape was very honest on how it showcased Mac’s issues. When I listened to “GO:OD AM” however, things changed. Much like what the album name and intro is alluding to, this album is about Mac’s come up ...

Trippie Redd's "NEON SHARK vs. Pegasus (Deluxe: Presented by Travis Barker)

What’s up guys, I hope you guys had a great week! Today I am going to go over my opinion on the recently released Trippie Redd album, “NEON SHARK vs. Pegasus (Deluxe: Presented by Travis Barker)”. This is pretty much the deluxe version of Trippie’s “Pegasus” album that came out in 2020. Before we even touch the music, I wanted to talk about a new trend that I’ve been noticing in the rap genre these past couple of months. This trend is what I call the “DELUXE PACKAGE” (caps are necessary) where an artist releases a full length project, and instead of creating a deluxe album with a couple extra songs, we get the DELUXE PACKAGE which contains almost an entirely new project with a good amount of songs attached on top of the original album. I noticed this with Lil Uzi Vert’s album “Eternal Atake” and his deluxe version “Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World 2” and later with Nav’s album “Good Intentions” a...

Mac Miller Pt. 2 : The Dark Side

Good evening boys and gals, this is part 2 of my experience listening to Mac Miller. Today we’ll be talking about another 3 projects of his, them being “Macadelic”, “Watching Movies with the Sound Off”, and “Faces”. These projects are definitely different from what I got from Mac’s work in the previous blog post so this will be interesting to get into.                 The first project we’ll talk about is a mixtape that came after “Blue Slide Park”, “Macadelic”. This mixtape is definitely a segway from the innocent rapper feel we got from Mac’s projects before. It starts off with a different bang with a rap that already sounds like a much more grown Mac Miller. The content of this project is interesting as we see him go ham on crazy beats to talk about the success he’s attaining at this point in life. The concept o...

Mac Miller Pt. 1 : Introducing The Kid

What’s up guys! For this week’s blog post I decided to do something different where I listen to the whole discography of an artist and talk about what makes them special as we discuss the concepts that came out of his/her projects. For the first blog post of this sort, I decided to focus on Mac Miller because not only have I heard a lot about him, I feel like he was one of those underrated artists that had a lot to say in the short amount of time he had to spread it. I personally have friends that have been touched by his music, so I decided to give his music a try. I’m pretty sure I’m going to break this analysis into three parts just because of how lengthy Mac’s discography is, so for this one I’ll be focusing on the projects “K.I.D.S.”, “Best Day Ever”, “I Love Life, Thank You”, and “Blue Slide Park.”               ...
